You’ve learned the basics, practiced your faux-ligraphy, and now you’re ready to add more personality, movement, and style to your work. This workshop is designed for letterers who are ready to go beyond individual letters and start creating more dynamic, polished pieces.
We’ll dive deeper into the creative side of lettering by exploring layout, composition, flourishing, embellishments, and playful ways to make your words stand out. You’ll learn how small changes can completely transform your designs, from experimenting with letter styles to adding details that make your artwork feel uniquely yours.
This isn’t about having the fanciest handwriting or creating a “perfect” piece. It’s about building your lettering toolbox, trying new techniques, and discovering all the ways your creativity can show up on the page.
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
- Composition and layout techniques for stronger designs
- How to create more expressive lettering styles
- Uppercase lettering variations
- Flourishing, embellishments, shadows, and decorative details
- Ways to add personality and dimension to your words
- Tips for sketching and planning your lettering pieces

About Natalie:
Natalie Keller Pariano is a maximalist artist, educator, and founder of NatterDoodle, a colorful stationery and lifestyle brand carried in 1,500+ shops nationwide. Before becoming a full-time artist, Natalie spent 12 years in higher education creating experiences that helped people connect, learn, and feel like they belonged. She brings that same energy to her workshops today with a mix of creativity, storytelling, encouragement, and humor (they’ve been described as part craft class, part stand-up comedy). Natalie believes the best creative experiences aren’t just about what you make, but how you feel while making it. Through colorful, joy-filled workshops, she encourages makers to embrace their creativity, give themselves more grace and less grief, and be loud about what they love.
- Workshops are non-refundable, non-transferable or redeemable for cash, and all sales are final. We have committed to compensating our instructors for their time, supplies and talent.
- You don't need a Marketplace admission ticket to attend workshop, we're all about flexibility here.
- For workshop check-in, all you need is your name and order number.
- If you can't make it on the actual day, you may get the kit to finish the project at home. Reach out to the instructor to arrange kit pickup or shipping.
- In the event a workshop is cancelled, attendees will be fully refunded within 10 days of the event. Little Craft Fest/Little Craft Place reserve the right to cancel any class due to lack of participation.
- Workshops are not included in the daily pass or 3-day pass.
- Ticket holders grant Little Craft Fest/Little Craft Place permission to use their recorded likeness at the event, with the understanding that these images and videos may be used for future promotional activities.
