Jacques Herbin
(1 products)The French brand Herbin, founded in 1670, holds the title of the world’s oldest ink producer. Jacques M. Herbin, a sailor during the age of exploration, traveled to India, where he discovered formulas for making sealing wax. He developed a special lacquer formula that enhanced the adhesion and neatness of seals. This wax gained popularity through generations, from Louis XIV to Coco Chanel. By the 19th century, Herbin expanded into producing India inks and fountain pen inks. Today, Herbin inks are still crafted in France, with final touches completed by hand in Paris.
