Fabric Coil-bound Journals with Dorkys Ramos

In this workshop, students will create a beautiful fabric-covered coil-bound journal to jot down to-do lists, sketch out doodles, watercolor illustrations, or capture ideas! They will select from a variety of papers for the interior, including watercolor, lined, blank, or fountain pen-friendly paper depending on their medium of choice. At the end of this 2-hour workshop, students will have made hardcovers using a selection of gorgeous fabric designs, know how to use coil binding tools, and used embellishments to personalize their notebook. All materials will be provided.

About Dorkys:

Dorkys Ramos is a NYC writer, artist, and teacher with a lifelong passion for all things stationery. Writing and art have always been a huge part of Dorkys' creativity with the latter passion leading her to explore watercolors, gouache, bookbinding, brush lettering, calligraphy, and developing a line of hand-illustrated stationery. Through her various art workshops, Dorkys has taught kids as young as two and adults as old as 104! And with her YouTube channel, she continues to reach other stationery lovers around the world.

After studying architecture at the New York Institute of Technology, Dorkys pursued a master's degree in journalism at Syracuse University. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including Travel + Leisure, Time Out New York, Stationery Trends, and Bon Appétit. She currently serves as the program director for Uptown Stories, a Manhattan-based nonprofit that teaches creative writing workshops for kids in her community. To her, the pursuit of learning something new is just as, if not more, thrilling as the finished piece.

By purchasing this ticket, you agree to the following terms:
  1. Workshops are non-refundable, non-transferable or redeemable for cash, and all sales are final. We have committed to compensating our instructors for their time, supplies and talent.  
  2. You don't need a Marketplace admission ticket to attend workshop, we're all about flexibility here.
  3. For workshop check-in, all you need is your name and order number.
  4. If you can't make it on the actual day, you may get the kit to finish the project at home. Reach out to the instructor to arrange kit pickup or shipping.
  5. In the event a workshop is cancelled, attendees will be fully refunded within 10 days of the event. Little Craft Fest/Little Craft Place reserve the right to cancel any class due to lack of participation.
  6. Workshops are not included in the daily pass or 3-day pass.
  7. Ticket holders grant Little Craft Fest/Little Craft Place permission to use their recorded likeness at the event, with the understanding that these images and videos may be used for future promotional activities.
  8.  Little Craft Fest/Little Craft Place reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any participant from the venue at their discretion.
  9. Little Craft Fest/Little Craft Place is not liable for any personal or financial harm incurred at the venue, nor for any lost, stolen, or misplaced items.
